Wood is a living material, which means it can react to temperature and, in particular, humidity.
Especially now that the studio is colder and your living room is warm.
It can help to build up that heat and give your pole an extra boost. This is a natural process that can never be 100% prevented, but we are happy to share our experience and advice.
1) Make sure the humidity in your living room is between 50-60%.
The higher the percentage, the faster your wooden post can swell and expand.
Too low humidity causes the wood to shrink again, which can also cause cracks.
2) Use felt pads or other furniture holders so that your wooden plate or base is not directly on your surface. (circulation of air and moisture)
3) wooden cat tree If necessary, apply an additional boost with a nourishing primer.
After extensive testing and consulting with hardwood specialists, we are most satisfied with the natural products from De Cockerije.
We now offer these in our online shop as well.
Please note that this is only suitable for indoor use.

This worktop oil from Cokerije has been specially developed for finishing and maintaining kitchen worktops, countertops, workbenches, wooden toys and other SUAR products such as our wooden scratching posts.
This worktop oil is made from purely natural ingredients and is therefore food safe. So there is no problem if your cat comes into contact with the product. Please note that it takes 4 hours to dry.
If you keep your pole outside, it is important to ensure that it is protected from the weather. Even if you oil your pole regularly, this will not help to protect it from changes in the weather. If your pole is made of wood, it is essential to impregnate it with a water-resistant coating.
Still have a crack and want to get rid of it?
That’s possible! We prefer to work with malleable wood in a natural color for this. Fill in as finely as possible with a filling knife and then (after 5 minutes) sand lightly with soft sandpaper to ensure a smooth finish.
Like any natural product, wood is vulnerable to humidity and temperature fluctuations. The good news is that nothing bad will happen if we pay a little extra attention and care for it.
Always happy to be of service,
Sandy & Jurgen
